HANK WILLIAMS FESTIVAL
The Hank Williams Park, where the festival is held each year, is a 5-acre lot that adjoins the Hank Williams, Sr. Boyhood Home and Museum. The festival got its start in the 1960s and was held in a pasture next to the home where Hank Williams, Sr. was born in Mt. Olive in Butler County. The first Hank Williams Festival in Georgiana, AL, was started in 1979. The festival in those days included a street dance. In 1992, the City of Georgiana bought the Hank Williams Boyhood Home located at 127 Rose Street and opened the Hank Williams Boyhood Home & Museum in 1993. The city also developed the park behind the home, where the festival is now held annually.
